Before the Race

Are there any regulations regarding the Corona Pandemic at the 2023 Škoda Velotour?
The current regulations of the state of Hesse apply. As of today, we do not expect any restrictions. However, we ask you to continue to observe the minimum distance and to wear a mask in areas where this is not possible (e.g. in the starting block or in the after-race area). We reserve the right to make changes!

How can I reach the hotline?
The hotline for participants is manned on Mondays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm at +49 6151/3524274.

How to get there

Where are the start and finish of the Škoda Velotour?
The start and finish are on Sossenheimer Str. The starting line-up is around the event area on Elly-Beinhorn-Strasse. Please follow the signs on site to your starting blocks.

Where can I park my camper van?
It is not possible to park your motorhome directly at the start in Eschborn. Please book a place at an official campsite.

Where can I park in Eschborn?
In Eschborn there are parking facilities in the industrial area Düsseldorfer Straße / Mannheimer Straße / Mergenthaler Allee (partly with costs). The best way to get there is via the A66 coming from Frankfurt.

Which S-Bahn station is the nearest?
Eschborn Süd. From there it is approx. 1.5 km to the event site (XXXLutz car park, Elly-Beinhorn-Straße).

Registration

Until when can I register?
The online registration closes regularly on 29.04.2023. The organiser reserves the right to close the registration earlier if the capacity limit is reached.

I have problems with the registration platform timeto, who can help me?
We have created a timeto manual for you. Answers to questions about the registration platform can be found in this document.

How can I change my registration data?
Corrections of the data stated in the registration (no change of name) are possible until 31.03.2023 in the registration portal "timeto" via the login (www.timeto.com) free of charge.

Can I transfer my starting place?
Until 31.03.2023 you can easily transfer your starting place via the registration platform timeto. Log in to your existing account and select "Transfer Registration". Then you have to enter the e-mail address of the person you want to transfer and send the transfer. This person will then receive a notification shortly that the starting place has been transferred to them. As soon as the person confirms this by clicking on the link in the e-mail received, they can register for the current rate. You yourself will receive your paid amount minus a 10€ handling fee back to your account. Substitute participants who have not transferred will be disqualified.
After 31.03. a re-registration is only possible on the event site on 30.04. and 01.05. during the handing out of starting documents for a re-registration fee of 10,- € (cash or EC card). Please bring a signed power of attorney and a copy of the identity card of the person to be re-registered. The two persons involved in the re-registration will then agree between themselves on the handling of the entry fee already paid.

How do I re-register correctly?
The late registration form must be filled out completely and legibly and signed at the registration desk on 30.04. and 01.05. (only as long as there are enough places available!). Payment is possible in cash or by EC card. Please have your identity card ready.

Can I transfer my entry to 1 May 2024?
It is not possible to change your entry to the following year. Until 31 March 2023 you have the possibility to change your booking to another participant for a fee of 10€.

Which bikes are allowed?
Regardless of whether it's a racing bike, mountain bike, trekking bike or city bike, all types of bikes are welcome on the ŠKODA Velotour! However, please note the specified minimum speeds. Pedelecs (e-bikes) are only permitted for the ŠKODA Velotour Ride (without time measurement). Participation with a tandem and handbike is also possible, please note that you must register for this in the specially designated registration categories. For safety reasons, cargo bikes are not permitted.

Can I take part in the ŠKODA Velotour with a pedelec (e-bike)?
Participation with a pedelec is only permitted in the ŠKODA Velotour Ride (without timing), as long as the motor support is limited to a maximum of 25 km/h. S-Pedelecs are not permitted.

How are the starting blocks divided up?
The classification of the starting blocks is based on the average speed and the previous participations in the Cycling Classic. Participants taking part in a cycling event for the first time who declare an expected average speed of faster than 35 km/h may have to submit an auditable result. Registration must be made by 16 April 2023 to be eligible for the front starting blocks. Anyone registering after 16 April will not be entitled to a front starting block and, depending on capacity, may be placed in one of the rear starting blocks regardless of the average speed declared.

Issue of starting documents

When will I receive my race number and starting block?
All participants who have registered by 02.04.2023 will receive their start number and start block by e-mail at the latest one week before the race day. Those who register later will only receive this information after the online registration deadline on 29.04.

How do I collect my starting documents correctly?
Please bring your registration confirmation and your ID card with you to pick up your starting documents. The collection of the starting documents will take place on 30 April from 12:00 to 18:00 at the event site in Eschborn (Elly-Beinhorn-Straße 3-7, 65760 Eschborn). It is also possible to pick up the starting documents on the morning of 01 May between 07:00 and 08:30 (Attention! Allow enough time in the morning before the start!). If you want to pick up your race documents in advance, you can do so from 20-29 April during regular opening hours at Fahrrad Denfeld (Urseler Str. 67, 61348 Bad Homburg vor der Höhe). ATTENTION: Pick-up in advance is only possible for participants who have registered online by 31 March.

Can I pick up my starting documents before 30.04.?
Yes! If you want to pick up your race documents in advance, you can do so from 20-29 April during regular opening hours at Fahrrad Denfeld (Urseler Str. 67, 61348 Bad Homburg vor der Höhe). ATTENTION: Pick-up in advance is only possible for participants who have registered online by 31 March.

Can someone else pick up my race documents?
The person collecting your race documents must bring your registration confirmation, a signed power of attorney for collection and a copy of the participant's ID card with them to the race documents collection point. This applies both to the handing out of starting documents in the run-up to the event at Fahrrad Denfeld and on site at the event.

Will my starting documents be sent to me?
No, the starting documents will not be sent to you.

Where can I find technical service for my bike?
Our partner Fahrrad Denfeld will offer a bike check for only 5€ at the event area in Eschborn (XXXLutz car park) before the ŠKODA Velotour. In addition, Shimano will offer a breakdown service at certain points along the route (approx. km26 in Oberursel, approx. km52 at the Kittelhütte refreshment station, approx. km75 in Kelkheim).

Event Day

Shortly before the start

Where is the organiser's information stand?
The stand is located in the open area at the Expo.

Can I join my friends/colleagues in the starting block?
Only if they are in a slower starting block, further back. Standing in a starting group further forward will result in disqualification.

How do I find my starting block?
The individual starting blocks are signposted on site. They are located around the event area on Elly-Beinhorn-Straße.

Can I drop off my luggage before the start?
There will be no bag drop-off this year.

Are there toilets at the start?
There are portable toilets at several locations in the start area and at the starting blocks.

In-Race

Which routes are there?
This year, all three routes of the ŠKODA Velotour will be offered again. The ŠKODA Velotour Taunus Classic with 103km, the ŠKODA Velotour Taunus Express with 92km and the ŠKODA Velotour Skyline with 40km. In addition, the ŠKODA Velotour Ride offers recreational cyclists the unique opportunity to start in their own starting block without timekeeping on 40 closed-off kilometres.

Can I switch between distances during the race? (ATTENTION NEW IN 2023!!!)
NO! This year a change of distance is only possible from a longer to a shorter distance, participants who are registered for a shorter distance and complete the longer distance will be disqualified! The course separation points are signposted. In Oberursel, participants of the ŠKODA Velotour Taunus Express / ŠKODA Velotour Taunus Classic turn right in the direction of Oberursel city centre and Feldberg, while participants of the ŠKODA Velotour Skyline go straight on in the direction of Oberhöchstadt. After leaving Schwalbach, the ŠKODA Velotour Taunus Classic continues straight ahead over the Mammolshainer Stich, while the ŠKODA Velotour Taunus Express turns right and returns directly to Eschborn.

Are there refreshment points on the course? (ATTENTION: NEW LOCATION IN 2023)
For the two long routes ŠKODA Velotour Taunus Classic and Taunus Express, there is a refreshment station after approx. 52.5km after crossing the Feldberg, on the last metres of the climb to the Kittelhütte in the car park on the right-hand side. If you turn into the car park, you can fill your bottles and get some fruit, bars and gels.

What do I do with my rubbish (gels, banana peels, ...) during the race?
As in normal road traffic, you are also obliged to dispose of your rubbish properly in the rubbish bins provided during the ŠKODA Velotour. These are located, for example, at the refreshment station or in the start and finish area. Anyone who throws away their rubbish on the course during the race will be disqualified.

What should I do in the event of a fall?
Please help your fellow riders in case of a fall and warn other participants. As in normal road traffic, please call 112 on 01 May. In this context, please also give the start number of the fallen participant so that he or she can be identified without any doubt.

Are there broom wagons?
There will be broom wagons to pick up participants who are too slow or can no longer run.

Minimum speeds*:        ŠKODA Velotour Taunus Classic / Taunus Express: approx. 25km/h

                                                           ŠKODA Velotour Skyline / Ride: approx. 20km/h

*The minimum speeds apply to the total time from start to finish and are adapted to the route profile. Uphill you can therefore also ride slower, while downhill a faster average speed is calculated. Relevant for the broom wagon is the time at cut-off points set by us and not the exact average speed. We ask for your understanding and consideration for the broom wagon drivers who are doing their job on this day.

Where can I find technical support on the race track?
Our partner Fahrrad Denfeld will be offering a bike check for just €5 at the event site in Eschborn (XXXLutz car park) in the run-up to the ŠKODA Velotour. In addition, Shimano will offer a breakdown service at certain points along the route (approx. km26 in Oberursel, approx. km52 at the Kittelhütte refreshment station, approx. km75 in Kelkheim). The motorcyclists in the race will also be equipped with the most necessary material for breakdown assistance and can hand over material to you if necessary so that you can repair minor breakdowns yourself.

Is it compulsory to wear a helmet?
Participants of the ŠKODA Velotour are obliged to wear a bicycle helmet with a closed chin strap. Participants without a helmet will be disqualified.

After the Race

Is there an after-race area?
You will be directed to the after-race area on the XXXLutz car park after the finish, where there will be snacks and drinks for all participants.

Where is the first aid located?
The German Red Cross will be located directly at the ŠKODA Velotour after-race catering area on the XXXLutz car park on race day.

Where is the transponder drop-off?
These are disposable transponders which do not have to be returned.

Where can I get photos of myself from the race?
You will find your photos after the race on www.getpica.com or on the results list directly behind your name.

How do I get from Eschborn to the Alte Oper?
You can follow the cycle path signs towards the city centre or cycle to the S-Bahn station "Eschborn Süd", from where you can take the S-Bahn to the station "Taunusanlage". From there you are directly at the event area in Frankfurt and can follow the race of the professionals.

Lost property is handed in at the information tent at the Expo.

Where can bikes from the broom wagon be handed in?

Results, classifications, honours

Where can I find the results lists?
You can find the results at www.eschborn-frankfurt.de/de/ergebnisse-velotour

 

Where can I find my certificate?
All participants can access their certificates online via the results list and print them out themselves.

Who will be honoured at the award ceremony?
At the award ceremony the top 3 male/female finishers, the age group winners and the best male and female finishers will be honoured.
-age group winners as well as the best male and female teams on all 3 courses will be honoured. In addition, the Tissot King of the Mountain and the Tissot Queen of the Mountain will be honoured. Honours and possible prizes will only take place during the award ceremony on site, there is no right to receive prizes later.

How does the team classification work?
The team classification is based solely on the teams formed during the registration process, regardless of club or company affiliation. The classification for each course will be done by adding up the total places of 4 participants of a team in the order of the finish. Places 1-4 of the respective team will be classified as the first-placed team, places 5-8 as the second-placed team, and so on.
