ADAC Velotour to award 12,000 starting places for the first time
January 15 th 2026 - 14:00
The ADAC Velotour continues to grow. For the edition on 1 May, the participant limit will be increased from 10,000 to 12,000 starting places. This development further establishes the cycling classic for amateur riders as one of the most popular cycling events in Germany.
The ADAC Velotour sold out early in each of the past two years. The trend is continuing in 2026: around 9,000 registrations have already been received – significantly more than at the same point last year, when all starting places were allocated around six weeks before the event. Against this backdrop, the organisers have decided to carefully expand the offer and give even more fans of the cycling classic the opportunity to take part.
The increase in participant numbers is accompanied by several innovations designed to further enhance the experience for all riders. This year, the start and finish of the ADAC Velotour will move closer to the start of the elite race. The result is a centrally located event area in Eschborn that is easy to access. This allows all finishers to watch the professional Eschborn-Frankfurt race directly after completing their own event. Families and friends will also benefit from shorter distances, for example to the team buses and the professional riders’ start area.
In addition, amateur riders will have access to a larger event area with significantly more space in the post-finish zone. More room and clear routing will ensure a more relaxed arrival, as well as opportunities to meet, recover and celebrate together.
Another element of the adjustments is the introduction of smaller start blocks to optimise the start process. For the first time, “Safer Cycling Guides” will be deployed to accompany selected groups on the three ADAC Velotour routes and provide orientation along the course.
Anyone who has not yet registered for 1 May can secure a starting place at adac-velotour.de and look forward to an unforgettable experience on one of Germany’s most beautiful cycling routes.
