A Cycling Festival for Everyone on May 1st

April 25 th 2025 - 12:18

Whether on a balance bike, a racing bike, or simply as an enthusiastic spectator along the route – May 1st will once again be a true cycling celebration in Eschborn, Frankfurt, and the Taunus region. For more than 60 years, the Eschborn-Frankfurt Cycling Classic has been a permanent fixture on the calendar – a day for participation, excitement, and celebration. A true holiday on two wheels.

Already in the morning, around 10,000 amateur cyclists will roll through the start arch of the ADAC Velotour. Demand was so high that all starting slots were fully booked weeks in advance, and anticipation for the event is enormous. From 8:45 a.m., the first participants will head off on one of three available distances: Skyline (40 km), Taunus Express (92 km), or Classic (103 km).

Around the XXXLutz site on Elly-Beinhorn-Straße in Eschborn, a major cycling festival will take place, featuring a live broadcast by Hessischer Rundfunk, a stage program, and interactive activities for the entire family.

The pros are coming – and getting up close with the fans
From 10:00 a.m., Eschborn’s town center will begin to fill with team vehicles and the stars of the sport. The top teams of the WorldTour and the best U23 talents will present themselves to the fans right in front of the town hall. The elite race will officially start at 12:05 p.m., followed shortly after by the U23 race.

The race course remains legendary: two ascents of the Feldberg, three climbs of the Mammolshainer Stich – a true challenge spread over nearly 200 kilometers all the way to the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. The classics specialists and German stars are expected to arrive at the finish line around 5:00 p.m. The entire race will be broadcast live on TV and online from 12:00 p.m. by Hessischer Rundfunk at hessenschau.de.

Experience cycling live – great atmosphere guaranteed along the course
Anyone wishing to experience the race atmosphere live will find plenty of opportunities along the route, whether at the start in Eschborn, at the finish in Frankfurt, or at one of the fan hotspots along the way. Especially around the Feldberg summit, the steep Mammolshainer Stich, or in the Taunus towns such as Oberursel, Schmitten, Schwalbach, Sulzbach, Kelkheim, Glashütten, Eppstein, and Kronberg, celebrations and cheering will create a lively backdrop. All information about travel, spectator areas, and expected passage times is available at eschborn-frankfurt.de.

Frankfurt celebrates – a full day of pure cycling action
From 9:00 a.m., the fastest amateur cyclists will pass through the finish line at the Alte Oper, marking the start of a day full of highlights in the heart of the city. From 10:00 a.m., the festival grounds will open with exhibitors, live music, family-friendly activities, and a vibrant atmosphere around Opernplatz.

In the morning, the city circuit belongs to the next generation. During the Süwag Energie Nachwuchs-Cup, children and young athletes from U11 to U17 will showcase their skills on the downtown course. Around 12:30 p.m., the professional peloton will race through the finish area for the first time, setting the scene for an afternoon full of excitement. Later in the day, the VGF Inclusion Race and the “kinder Joy of Moving” mini tour will bring smiles to the faces of young cycling fans. A particularly emotional moment is guaranteed when the youngest participants cross the finish line on their balance bikes – a perfect warm-up for the grand finale of the elite race. Around 5:00 p.m., the winner of the 2025 Eschborn-Frankfurt Cycling Classic will be crowned in front of the Alte Oper.
